PRESIDENT’S REPORT

President, Colin Grevett, presented his report.

Thank you all for attending tonight’s meeting.

Again I would like to acknowledge the tremendous support of the volunteers who have helped our Theatre in 2015.

We have had another busy twelve months with quite successful productions and good attendance. It may not have been a profitable year as per the books due to the high maintenance costs and depreciation this year & this impacting our ability to present shows, but I believe we have come out at the end of the year with a renewed vigour.

Building on the reputation The LIND has acquired of being a great performance space,  we have had renewed interest from outside groups wishing to hire our venue which is now becoming a significant part of our revenue. But more importantly it is imperative we can offer the venue to other groups. Suitable venues for performance are becoming a rare commodity & being able to assist groups to develop their skills and showcase their talents is I believe part of what The LIND is all about.

Our membership base is healthy & the 2016 season is lining up to be quite a fun year albeit a little bit British in flavour. Our opening show for the year MOMM was an outstanding success and I hope this will be the sounding board for a successful year.

I will continue to strive to raise the profile of our Theatre through any avenues that present themselves as I believe we have the best Theatre on the Sunshine Coast and we need to be proud of it.

Again thank you for your support and I wish the LIND and its’ members a safe, entertaining & prosperous 2016 season.

Colin Grevett, President.

TREASURER’S REPORT

Treasurer, Gwen Griffin, presented her report.

TREASURER’S REPORT FOR YEAR ENDED 31ST DECEMBER, 2015.

Another year has flown by and I present to you, my report for 2015, as well as the Auditor’s report.

It is disappointing to note that after depreciation of $9,222.84, we have ended the year with a loss of $19,447.86.  Even without depreciation, the loss was $10,225.02.  Explaining this, though, we had massive maintenance expenses during 2015, due to termite damage under the stage and also inspection and maintenance to fly equipment and to a lesser degree, new stair lighting in the auditorium.  These expenses alone, came to well over $18,000.00, unfortunate but necessary. Other overheads came to approximately $23,000.00.

We staged only four productions during 2015 on which we made an overall profit of $19,273.12, “All for One” being the highest, making $5,917.74, closely followed by “Keeping down with the Joneses” and “Forget Me Knot”, both over $5,000 and “Amadeus” making $2,468.65.  I’ve printed out the results for you to see.  The profit is just over $10,000 less than last year.

Other income came from Theatre Hire, where we made $6,130.00 after discounts or donations.

Refreshment sales profit was $5,402.78.  This includes the cost of champagne which we give as complimentary on gala nights.

Member subscriptions were $1,080.03.

Interest on Online Saver a/c was $768.03.

These are all slightly less than last year.

Assets that we purchased during the year were a microphone system for $1,541.00, rubber matting for backstage, $934.66, a haze machine for $697.00 and a lighting and media console costing $14,289.00, a total of $17,461.66.

Early in the year we transferred $5,000 to our Online Saver account but later in the year, had to transfer $3,000 back to help pay for some of the expenses.

At the end of the year, our bank balances were:-

Building account     $  9,932.01

Online Saver a/c     $49,367.06

TOTAL                   $59,299.07

This is around $28,000 less than at the same time the year before, but as you can see, we have spent a considerable amount of money in 2015.

Both Liability and Building insurances are up to date. This year’s building insurance is due in April and is $4,204, a rise of $124.00 on last year, which probably isn’t too bad as far as insurances go.

Hoping for a great year 2016.

QUESTIONS FROM THE FLOOR:

Suggestion from Judy Glen:  She speaks at clubs, Rotary Clubs etc. and has volunteered to act as our Ambassador.  Denise will give her a couple of clubs.

Ngaire does not wish to be Wardrobe Mistress during 2016 and would rather work backstage and FOH.  Colin thanked Ngaire for all her hard work over the years.  Ngaire has been invaluable and will be sorely missed.
