PRESIDENT’S REPORT

Outgoing President, Colin Grevett, presented his report.

Thank you all for attending tonight’s meeting.  I would like to acknowledge the tremendous support of the committee & volunteers who have helped our Theatre in 2017. We have had quite a successful year with a good variety of productions and good attendance. The LIND’s balance between our own productions & outside groups seems to be fueling the continued success of the theatre. As this was my last year as President and on the committee I am honoured to have represented the theatre in a multitude of roles over the last 13 years. I wish to give a special mention to Kathi Morse as secretary who has assisted me with my role as president & also for formalizing so many of our procedures over the years. Hopefully this will assist future committee members with their roles.

I believe it is time for a change of leadership and some fresh ideas to take the theatre in a new direction into the future. I will not be far from the theatre and will assist where possible with theatre activities. I still believe we have the best Theatre on the Sunshine Coast and we need to be proud of it. Again thank you for your support and I wish the LIND, the new committee and its’ members a safe, entertaining & prosperous 2018 season.

Sincerely, Colin Grevett, President.

TREASURER’S REPORT

Outgoing Treasurer, Gwen Griffin, presented her report.

TREASURER’S REPORT FOR YEAR ENDED 31ST DECEMBER, 2017.

I am pleased to bring to you, my report for 2017, along with the auditor’s report and financial statements.  The auditor’s report isn’t signed yet owing to him only emailing it to me yesterday as he was running late, and I have to pick up all of my financial books etc and get his report signed tomorrow. I think we can be very proud of ourselves, this year, because we have made a very healthy profit of $23,018.59, and that is after depreciation of $6,312.68 on our assets.

We staged five productions during 2017, with each one turning in a very comfortable profit. Overall, the income on those shows totaled $54,834.38 with expenses of $14,608.72 leaving a profit of $40,225.66. This is about $15,000 up on last year. “Calendar Girls” came in tops with a profit of $10,830.56. “Will you still love me in the morning” made $8,190, “Miracle worker” almost $8.000 with “Lysistrata” and “A Party to Murder” almost identical, making approximately $6,600 each. I’ve printed this out and you can see that there isn’t much between them.

As well as our own productions throughout the year, we hire the theatre out to others and in 2017 our hire income came to $8,690 after discounts given as donations and tech fees paid.

We made a profit on refreshment sales of approximately $7,315, and this is after giving free champagne, coffee and tea on our Gala night at each show, as well as a generous supper.

Member subscriptions came to $1,607.57 for the year.

All of these are up on last year.

On the downside, our overheads were fairly high around $35.000.00, but of course, this is unavoidable.

Our bank balances at the end of the year showed:

ANZ Cheque account  $   7,846.85

Online Saver account  $ 50,118.27

Bendigo Cheque a/c    $ 40,239.0

Total                            $ 98,204.17

Both building and liability insurances are paid and up to date.

This is a very pleasing result, and we look forward to a successful 2018

Treasurer -Nambour Lind Lane Theatre Inc.
